Curriculum Sunday School 2024
Level 1: (KG & 1st graders ) ages 5 & 6

Arabic : Reading and writing of Arabic alphabets and short vowels (damma, fattha, kesra) along with learning basic vocab and phrases 

Texts: Arabic writing workbook by Taqwa Prints
Quran: Memorization and teaching of the following Shahadah, Sura Fatiha, Surah nas, surah falaq 
Text:The Holy Quran for Kids Presented by Yahiya Emerick (print outs from teacher)

Islamic Studies: KG and 1st grade: Adaab, meaning and use of “bismillah” “alhumdulillah” “inshaAllah” “Salamulaykum”, who is Allah and Mohammed (s), Cleanliness, instilling God consciousness, Stories of the prophet (s) and lessons
Texts: Safar Islamic Studies textbook 1, Safar islamic studies workbook 1

 

  • Level 2: ( 2nd & 3rd grade) ages: 7 & 8

Arabic : Arabic alphabet in their isolated and joined forms, fatha kasra and dumma, tanween, long vowels, sukoon, Shaddeh, selected quranic words and phrases. 

Texts: Weekend learning: Beginners Arabic Reading by Mohammed Arif
Quran: Memorization and teaching of the following: Shahadah, surah masad to al-mamoon (Or Surahs That all can learn)
Text:The Holy Quran for Kids Presented by Yahiya Emerick (print outs from teacher)

Islamic Studies: –  2nd grade: Adaab, names of Allah, Angel gibril, 5 pillars of islam, articles of faith, deeds, jannah/jahanam, story of Adam, Basics of cleanliness, wudu

Texts: Safar Islamic Studies textbook 2, Safar islamic studies workbook 2 

3rd grade: Names of Allah, Habil and Qabil, Angels, respecting people, Books of Allah, Manners of eating/drinking, prophets of Allah, Life after death, jannah/jahanem, Prophet hud in detail, cleanliness, why we Pray

  • Level 3: ( 4th and 5th grade) Ages 9 and 10

Arabic : Arabic alphabet in their isolated and joined forms, combining letters to make words, reading and writing sentences, taa marbootah, Writing and reading fatiha, an-nas, Falaq, and Ikhlas. 

Texts: Iqraa Arabic Reading Textbook level 1, Iqraa arabic reader workbook level 1
Quran: Memorization and teaching of the following: Shahadah, surah al-Qariah, surah aadiyaat, surah zalzala (Or Surahs That all can learn)
Text:The Holy Quran for Kids Presented by Yahiya Emerick (print outs from teacher)

Islamic Studies: 4th grade: Sins and shirk, Islamic calendar, Story of Dhul Qarnayn, good character and brotherhood/sisterhood, the Sahaba, seerah overview, battle of the trench, Treaty of Hudabiya, love for the Prophet, Fasting

Texts: Safar Islamic Studies textbook 4, Safar islamic studies workbook 4

5th grade: Names of Allah, in detail, angels books and messengers, The last day, Death, types of rulings, Story of Ayoub, Wadu -fard, maqrooh etc, Ghusul in dpth, Yunis, Fiqh of prayer

  • Level 4: (6th, 7th 8th grade) 11,12,13 years old

Arabic : Arabic alphabet in their isolated and joined forms, combining letters to make words, reading and writing sentences advanced, Learning conversational arabic, reading short stories, Reading from the quraan
Texts: Iqraa Arabic Reading Textbook level 2, Iqraa arabic reader workbook level 2
Quran: Memorization and teaching of the following, surah Duha, Lail, shams, surah balad. (Or Surahs That all can learn)

Islamic Studies: 6th grade: Essential knowledge, Essential beliefs, Fiqh, Stories of the prophet in detail Textbook Safar level 6,  workbook level 6, 

7th/8th: Essential knowledge, Essential beliefs, Fiqh (rituals and rulings), Islamic history, Contemporary issues, Islam and the social world, Spiritual and moral development
Textbook Safar level 7, workbook level 7

Tuition

Regular Rate

  • $190 per child

Financial Aid

  • Please email sunday.school@massacramento.org with your situation. We will ask for documents for proof.

  • Or go to the MCYC kiosk and register through it directly you will receive an email if your registration is successful – if you don’t, please email sunday.school@massacramento.org asap.

Cash & Personal Checks

  • Register & pay at MCYC Sunday school during School hours
  • Any returned personal checks will be charged a $25 fee paid in cash + a $25 late fee.
